How do you wash and care for reusable nursing pads?
After the washable breast pad is removed after wear, place it in a wet bag or mesh laundry bag until wash day.
Reusable nursing pads can be washed with your regular laundry using a cloth diaper safe laundry detergent like Tide Powder, All Free and Clear or Arm and Hammer. Avoid detergents with strong fragrances. Do not use dryer sheets or scent beads when washing reusable nursing pads.
Reusable nursing pads may be air dried or dried in the dryer on low or no heat.
How often do reusable nursing pads need to be changed?
The frequency with which reusable breast pads will need to be changed will depend on the amount of milk collected. This duration will vary from customer to customer.
Nursing pads should be changed once they become fully saturated. Soiled nursing pads can be stored in a mesh laundry bag or wet bag between washes.
Can I use nipple cream with reusable nursing pads?
Yes! Just like cloth diapers, there are many nipple balms that are safe for use with reusable nursing pads. Avoid products that contain petroleum, as petroleum can build up on the fibers of the pads and lead to absorbency and repelling issues.
